Ohhhhhh! I bought one of those dvd's a couple of yrs ago....da one about cornrow....
Still can't cornrow, but I can do the shreds/micros and kinky twists.....they say 'canka' twists down here...LOL

I am looking for someone to do tree braids in mississippi.  my sister had this in her head and it was so pretty.  I wish I could do my hair myself.  people are truely blessed that can briad their own hair.  I have a cousin and a friend that can do that. 
They won't even go to school to do this.

The DVD is helpful, I can c the form of the cornrow when I'm practicin' it, but I'm not braiding tight enough 2 get the clear form of it.

I was gonna go 2 cosmetology school but upon get'n accepted n dat field(b/c there was a waiting list), I found out that I was pregnant w/my 6yr old daughter at the time. Due 2 all da fumes/chemicals, and always b n sick, I just couldn't do it.....
But shoot, ppl around here, always want somethin 4 nothin' and it takes 2 much time 2 do those shreds/micros.
My 6yr old has bn literally beg'n me 4 quite sometime now 4 some "kinky" twist, and I finally finished hers 2dy....started last nite abou 10:30, went to bed abou 2am, and finished up 2 hrs 2dy. I was askin' her if she wanted me to stop work'n on 'em last nite, but she actually stayed up 4 me 2 do 'em! I was surprised....and still am!

LOL....I know I was gonna ask the same thing....what are tree braids....you know they have the twist micros out now too....could be those.

LOL @ the 6yr old staying up all night...that is something I could see my daughter doing...they are so serious about they image @that age!! Thats not a bad thing.

I wish I could get my hair braided, but I suffer with migraines and the one time I got braids my head was hurting me so bad I actually took them down later that night... I was in tears.  Plus my hair is so thick, people already think my hair is a wig lol.

I figured that's what they were...micros look really nice with the twist instead of the braids.  Its nice for the young women (25-40) that still like to wear braids.

My hair is pretty thick too, I jus like 2 keep it cut...in layers or the stack style look. If my hair was as long Keke's, I wouldn't do the micros/shreds/twists/or any braids to my hair at all. I love layer/stack look, but h8 the continuous hot curl'n. Aint that somethin'? Love da look, h8 da maintenance, but that's usually how it goes.

Can you believe only two more months left in 08!! Seems like we were just at a New Years Eve Service last weekend!!!

I know eleven more weeks and this year is gone we work in segments of weeks on my job so I can keep up with the weeks better than I can the days. Our year starts in July, it's really backwards.


I need secrets on thickness for the hair, my hair is midway of my back, I aways have it pulled back in a bun, and when I do let it hang I people ask is it mine. My cousin told me to put a rinse in my hair and that will thicken it up, but I like the natural color of my hair.  Does anyone have any suggestions on how to achieve and maintain thickness

I don't have any secrets, but once I take out these braids, I'm gona purchase me some of those Carol's Daughters products.....all natural hair care products by Lisa Price....just type carol's daughter in ur search box.

Thank you, I pay my stylist very well to keep my hair on point. I give her so much money I need to claim her as a dependent on my taxes.. but she's worth it though.

lol not really, my stylist just takes good care of it for me, keeps it trimmed, conditioned, and only use heat on it once a week or less.

I use hot oil treatments and regular conditioner. My hair seems to be very healthy, I just wish it was thicker.


Keja my co-worker and her daughter had their hair in micro's, their edges are gone. I suggested they use temple balm what else could they use to bring them back?
